Living room /dining room remodel

(back to remodeling page)

Started 11/03 -  Completed 9/07 (living room side anyway)

The pictures below are of our new office. We needed a new nursery, so we need to move the office out of one of the spare bedrooms. The living room was unused, so we are converting it to a office. The wall going up will separate the office from the dining room were there was a square arch between the two rooms before. In order to conserve space the  two closets will have pocket doors. The closet on the left is my junk closet and the closet on the right is office supplies storage. On the dining room  side the area between the closets creates a cubby hole I hope to fill with a buffet someday.

To complete the office/new guest room with the birth of our 2nd child we decided to build a wall on the other side of the office to make a hall way, so the front door would not be part of the office/new guest room.  As before to save space I used pocket door hardware for the door. I picked up the French door slab on Craig's list unused for $30.00 The wall went up very fast but slowed down on the drywall mudding. I had some great help as always. This project is finally completed just shy of 4 years from when it was started.

I moved the bookcase over to the left of the desk, because the futon was larger then I though it would be.
